American, European, and French Roulette: Game Construction and Features

American, European, and French Roulette: Game Construction and Features

The name has its origin from the French word roulette, which translates to "little wheel." The earliest written document of the game is during the middle of the 18th century. There are, however, scientists who verify the game of roulette during Ancient China, where players used to play the game by the title of the "Magic Square." Others attribute the creation of roulette to the French mathematician Blaise Pascal.

Game rules are extremely simple: there are 36 black and red compartments (numbered) and 1 or 2 green ones, which are "zero" on a wheel that rotates. The ball is rolled in the direction opposite to that of the rotation of the wheel and falls on one compartment. It is possible to bet on color, number, or ranges. All the players whose bets match the compartment the ball stops on win.

Roulette gambling is presented by almost all online casinos. However, true bets are allowed to place only by registered users. Account registration doesn't take more than a few minutes and can be done in various ways. For example, registration in Pin-Up Casino can be done via phone number or e-mail. Even some sites have account registration via social networks.

Types of Roulette

Despite simplicity, there are several variations of this chance game with rules adapted to gaming culture of players in a given state. There are three types of roulette:

Any of them can be tested in good casinos, e.g., Pin-Up Ukraine, SuperGra, or Kosmolot.

Traditional Version of the Game

The European Roulette is the basic roulette. The betting table has 37 slots. Red and black squares, numbered from 1 to 36 in the following order: 32-15-19-4-21-2-25-17-34-6-27-13-36-11-30-8-23-10-5-24-16-33-1-20-14-31-9-22-18-29-7-28-12-35-3-26. "Zero" is green.

European Roulette is popular because it has simple rules and equal chances of winning.

For instant bets, the table is conditionally divided into three parts. The objective of the game is to predict in which sector the ball will fall. The game begins with bets. One can bet on:

Once bets are placed, the drawing is started. The result is decided the instant the ball falls into a slot.

American Roulette

It consists of 38 figures and differs from the European one. It has two green "zero" pockets — 0 and 00. The second of them equals twice as much as the first one, but there is more risk because of an extra pocket.

American Roulette also differs from the European one in numbering: 0-28-9-26-30-11-7-20-32-17-5-22-34-15-3-24-36-13-1-00-27-10-25-29-12-8-19-31-18-6-21-33-16-4-23-35-14-2.

Apart from common bets, American Roulette involves the "Five Number Bet" and "Box of Five Bet" — 5-number bets: 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3.

Experts are confident that American Roulette gives the casino more advantage, and chances of the players winning are lower in comparison with European Roulette. But more complex rules and higher risk give the game more thrill.

French Roulette

French Roulette is considered by the majority of players as the queen of casino games. It was created before the remaining two types and continues to be played now.

The European Roulette is different from the French Roulette by the special rules. The En Prison rule is: if the ball falls into the green pocket, players get a second opportunity to win on even-money bets.

La Partage rule specifies the refunding of a proportion of lost funds when "zero" is rolled for players making even-money bets. There are two cases:

Every type of roulette can have a range of bet options, stakes, and chances.
